A WEEKEND OF MUSIC, ART & CULTURE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

The second annual West Coast Weekender will be taking place from May 4th through May 7th in America’s finest city.  The festivities begin with a kick-off party on Thursday at Queen Bee’s that.  WCW then moves to Spin Nightclub on Friday, before making the last transition to the WorldBeat Cultural Center in Balboa Park for Saturday and Sunday.

A slew of top notch house & techno artists will be performing at the 4-day event.  We have highlighted a few for your previewing pleasure.

Walker & Royce will be gracing the festival this year.  The DJ and production duo from New York are a household name in modern house music.  Sam Walker & Gavin Royce have been working together since 2011 and have since released music on Nervous Records, OFF Recordings, Crosstown Rebels, Dirtybird Recordings, and many other top-tier labels.

Legendary House music maestro Mark Farina will be putting in work behind the decks at WCW 2017.  So many good things can be said about Mark Farina, but words don’t do his technical proficiency and musical aptitude justice.  He is one of the most beloved DJs in the community and if you’ve seen him play, then you understand why.  Don’t miss his headlining set on Sunday, May 7th!

Purple Disco Machine has been a heavy hitter since his release, “My House” topped the Deep House Beatport charts in 2013.  PDM has most recently released music on Milk & Sugar, Bargrooves, Variety Music, and Global Underground.

MANIK’s performance at last year’s West Coast Weekender was a favorite with party goers.  In an interview with DJ MAG, MANIK said, “West Coast Weekender… brought in the brand new with the old school.  The crowd was so diverse; it was true house music.  The vibes were insanely good and I loved every minute of it.”  In honor of the genre that peaked his interest in dance music, MANIK recently curated an acid house mix.  Check it out below!

Whereas most DJs are specialists in a sole genre, Rich Medina’s sets explore all avenues of sound.  In addition to being a technically proficient wizard in the booth, he is an accomplished spoken word artist.  Medina will be a well-received addition to the stellar West Coast Weekender lineup.

California native Marquess Wyatt is a messenger of the deepest, most soulful kind of house music and will also be making an appearance at WCW 2017.  The Om Records artist is one of the most influential names in West Coast house music, bringing the sounds of Chicago and New York to his hometown of Las Angeles in the mid-80s.  Carefully pointing out that he has “always had a deep passion for music,” you know that his adoration of house has become its gateway into the lives of thousands of people.

Lars Behrenroth, Sunshine Jones, Manoo, Mr. V, Oscar P, Mark Quark, Cris Herrera, Eric Medina, Bass Exotic and many other talented DJs will also be showcasing their musical selections at the event!
